MUSIC TEACHING & WORKSHOPS
Nela Trifković is available for a variety of teaching and creative collaboration services. She teaches voice for singers or stage and screen performers, vocal enthusiasts and musicians who wish to work in the vocal area. Other teaching areas include music theory, song-writing and composition, keyboard and adult piano.
She offers vocal workshops suitable for professional and community choirs, for professional development, secondary and tertiary students. Her approach is somatic and holistic: including voice and body connection, sound production and general musicianship training.
Nela also offers Balkan and Sephardic Jewish music singing workshops suitable for vocal ensembles or individuals, including secondary and tertiary students. These workshops include introduction to the languages, pronunciation and exercises that support it, rhythmic drills and melodic exercises that shed light on the modal structures and ornaments used in the studied repertoire.
In terms of Balkan music, Nela predominantly teaches Sevdah from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also “starogradske” (“Old Town Songs” shared among the Balkan Countries) and vocal music from the “golden age of the Yugoslav Cinema.” ( 1959-1989.)The workshops are individually tailored to suit the requirements and interests of the participants. For more information for any of these contact Nela directly.
COMPOSITION & MUSIC DIRECTION
Nela has worked in independent Australian theatre and dance, as well as in collaborative projects with installation and performance artists. She composes original music for these types of projects and collaborations and offers musical direction that includes vocal and instrumental coaching of the performers. Nela loves supporting non-musicians to include music in their performance vocabularies.
